COX Planning has extensive experience in assisting developers and property owners with obtaining environmental approval from federal agencies. Discretionary projects requiring a federal permit or authorization also need environmental clearance or certification in compliance with the National Environmental Policy Act. We provide support by first completing a review to determine whether your project has any significant impacts and assisting with revising site designs, construction implementation, and operations activities to reduce or avoid impacts. We then assist with preparing and processing the appropriate level of environmental review to obtain your federal permit.

Public and Agency Coordination

COX Planning regularly coordinates with local, state, and federal agencies on behalf of its clients to establish cooperative relationships during the pre-application stages of a project. Depending on project needs, we also coordinate with non-government stakeholders and the general public through notices, correspondence, and meetings to ensure your project is aligned with salient 3rd party goals. We then build on those experiences to streamline permitting, environmental review, and mitigation negotiations by incorporating all concerns into the project before submission and continuing regular correspondence until approvals have been obtained. This approach ensures minimal application revisions, smooth and friendly interactions with agency staff who process approvals more quickly, and more practical compliance requirements.
